Georgetown Names 2020 Men’s Lacrosse Captains

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Kevin Warne has announced the team captains for the 2020 season. Seniors Massimo Bucci, Jake Carraway, Robert Clark and Stephen MacLeod will lead the Hoyas on the field during the upcoming campaign.

"I'm extremely excited for Massi, Jake, Rob and Stephen as our team captains for the 2020 season," Warne said. "All four understand what it will take from a leadership standpoint to help navigate the team on this year's journey."

Bucci had a breakout season as a junior, posting 15 goals and 10 assists from the midfield to more than triple his previous career totals. He registered a career-high five points against second-ranked Loyola and notched a hat trick at Mount St. Mary's. Bucci has played in 37 games during his time on the Hilltop, starting all but one. His older brother, Joe, was a two-time captain for the Hoyas during the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

Carraway was a USILA Honorable Mention All-American selection as a junior, named First Team All-BIG EAST and to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team and was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. He tied the Georgetown program record with 88 points (57G, 31A) as a junior and was named the BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week three times and to the USILA Team of the Week twice. Starting all 49 games of his career with the Hoyas, he is currently in seventh-place all-time on the Hilltop with 179 (121G, 58A) career points.

Now in his fifth season in the program, Clark was elevated to a starting role at attack in 2018 and never looked back. He started the final five games of the season and notched 20 goals and 20 assists before starting all 18 games and posting 33 goals and 13 assists in 2019. Clark had three games with four goals last season, against Hofstra, NJIT and St. John's, and tallied game-winning goals against the Highlanders and the Red Storm.

MacLeod moved into full-time starting role at close defense as a sophomore and helped develop the Hoyas to a dominant defensive force. Georgetown's defense held opponents to just 8.12 goals per game in 2018 and held opponents to six goals or less in eight different games. The Blue & Gray also held three-straight opponents to a meager six goals in each game as a part of a five-game winning streak. In 45 career games, MacLeod had caused 17 turnovers and collected 38 ground balls.

Georgetown is coming off back-to-back BIG EAST Championships and returns 30 letterwinners from last season.
