WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's lacrosse squad released its 2020 schedule on Thursday. The team will face six squads that finished 2019 ranked in the top 25 nationally as well as six NCAA Tournament qualifiers.  Georgetown was ranked No.18 in the final IWLCA Coaches Poll.
 
Georgetown will open up the season at home against Saint Joseph's on Saturday, February 8. This is the first of the 11 nonconference matchups the Blue & Gray has on the 2020 slate.  Five of those non-league games will be at Cooper Field.
 
In BIG EAST Conference play, GU will play all five opponents once with home matchups against Villanova (Mar. 28), Marquette (Apr. 11) and Butler (Apt. 18).
 
The Hoyas will host the BIG EAST Championship on April 30 and May 2, 2020 at Cooper Field.  The top four teams will earn a trip to the tournament.  The semifinals will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network and the championship game will be aired on FS2.
 
Schedule Notes

• This is the third-consecutive season the Hoyas will be opening the year with Saint Joseph's.
• In the six-team BIG EAST Conference, Georgetown will host Villanova (March 28), Marquette (April 11) and Butler (April 18). Georgetown will travel to Denver (April 4) and Old Dominion (April 25).
• The Blue & Gray played Penn in the first round of the NCAA Tournament a season ago defeating the Quakers 13-12 in double overtime. The teams will play on February 15 in the second contest of the season.
• The Hoyas will face Denver on April 4, the last meeting was in the BIG EAST Championship when GU came away with the 9-8 double overtime win.
• The contest on April 21 will be against the reigning national champion Terps who finished the season ranked No. 1 in the polls.

 
Georgetown finished the 2019 season with 12 wins as well as a BIG EAST Championship and the first trip to the NCAA Tournament Second Round since 2014.  Georgetown managed back-to-back double overtime victories to capture the lead championship and a tournament win before falling to Syracuse 14-8.
