WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University swimming & diving team hosts Drexel on Saturday at McCarthy Pool on the Hilltop. Diving begins at 10:30 a.m. while the swimming starts at noon. The meet will serve as Georgetown's Senior Day as the Hoyas will recognize their 13 seniors.
LAST TIME OUT
- The shorthanded Hoyas were swept at George Washington last weekend as the women fell 155-88, while the men's squad dropped a 153-90 decision.
- On the women's side, GU received 15 top-three finishes over the 11 individual events, including three victories.
- Corey Moon got things started with a triumph in the 1,000-yard freestyle, and Riley Fujioka claimed both the 3- and 1-meter dives, leading the Hoyas to sweeps in both events.
- The Georgetown men also claimed three individual victories, as well as a win by the 200-yard medley relay squad.
- Drew Carbone won both individual events he raced in (200 IM, 100 back) and Sean Devlin also came away with a win in the 50-yard freestyle.
ABOUT THE MEET
- Last year, the Hoyas were swept in a tight meet at Drexel's Daskalakis Athletic Center.
- Cristina Barrett won both distance events on the women's side and Fujioka swept the diving, setting the Georgetown record in the 1-meter event.
- On the men's side, Michael Wheeler (1,000 free) and Carlson Temple (200 breast) both won in the lanes while Griffin Edmonds came away with a victory in the 3-meter dive.
COMING UP NEXT
Following this weekend, the Hoyas will close out the regular season with a tri-meet against BIG EAST opponents Seton Hall and Providence. The two-day meet, Jan. 31 - Feb. 1, will take place in New Providence, New Jersey.
