EASTON, Pa. - The Georgetown University field hockey team (2-16) could not withstand a strong offensive performance from No. 11 Lafayette, falling 7-0 in its season-finale on a cold, windy day at Metzgar Field.

The Hoyas offense threatened late, taking all seven of its shots in the second half, as seniors Caitlin Hickey (Milton, Mass./Milton Academy) and Katy Wingo (McLean, Va./Langley) each had two shots in the loss, while senior goalkeeper Briana Pereira (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) made 14 saves.

The Leopards opened the scoring 14:51 into the game when Deanna DiCroce scored from short range to take a 1-0 lead. Lafayette extended its lead just over five minutes later when Kristin Heaney found the back of the cage to make it 2-0. Lafayette's Jenna Seybert scored on a penalty corner with no time remaining in the first half, giving the Leopards a 3-0 halftime lead.

Lafayette got started quickly in the second half, scoring with 28:34 remaining in the match when Emily Valeo converted a penalty stroke to take a 4-0 lead. Ten minutes later, Lafayette would score twice within 30 seconds, as Kelsey Gula and Hanna Sotiropolous scored moments apart to take a 6-0 lead. With just over 16 minutes remaining in the match, Seybert scored her second goal of the game to expand the lead to seven goals.

The Hoyas continued to battle, drawing four penalty corners in the last 15 minutes of the game, but they were unable to convert, as time ran out on the Hoyas season in a 7-0 loss to Lafayette. The loss to the Leopards was the Hoyas third loss to a team ranked in the Top 15 in the last three weeks.

The Hoyas game with the Leopards marked the final game for the 10 seniors on the roster. The group is the largest senior class Head Coach Tiffany Marsh has had during her tenure on the Hilltop.
