Rodgers Earns BIG EAST and WNIT Accolades

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University senior shooting guard Sugar Rodgers (Suffolk, Va./King's Fork) was recognized by two organizations on Monday for her outstanding start to the 2012-13 season. Rodgers was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll and also earned a spot on the Preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament All-Tournament team.

Rodgers averaged 26.3 ppg in a 2-1 season start, leading the Hoyas to their first Preseason WNIT semifinal appearance. She had 35 points to lead GU to a win against No. 11/10 Delaware and a pair of 22-point performances against Sacred Heart and at North Carolina.

Rodgers averaged 7.0 rpg, posted 16 steals, had nine assists and went 22-of-28 from the charity stripe. She is currently leading the conference in scoring.

Along the way, Rodgers became the all-time leading scorer in program history with 1,886 points to her credit. She passed Kris Witfill who had 1,885 points.

All three games to start the season were part of the Preseason WNIT.
