The Georgetown University softball team (5-2) will continue regular season play on the road at the NC State Wolfpack Challenge this weekend. The Hoyas will face NC State (3-5), Toledo (1-4), Kent State (1-4), and Lehigh (0-0).
The Blue & Gray look to extend their three-game win streak in Raleigh. Georgetown beat UNC-Wilmington, George Mason, and Howard in commanding shutout wins last weekend.
Freshman pitcher Megan Hyson (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) was named BIG EAST Softball Pitcher of the Week on Monday, February 20. She pitched a no-hitter on Saturday, February 18 against Howard, and currently posts a 1.83 ERA.
Elyse Graziano (Floral Park, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) currently averages one run scored and one stolen base per game over seven contests. She is also batting .400. Mackensey Carter (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mission Viejo) has four hits in four straight games.
Three batters for NC State are averaging .300 or better. Pitchers Emily Weiman and Morgan Peeler currently combine for a team ERA of 1.93 and 57 strikeouts in eight games for the Wolfpack.
Toledo enters Wolfpack Challege play on a two-game losing streak. The Rockets have scored just ten runs in five games, compared to 25 for their opponents.
Kent State has dropped four games, two at the hands of No. 6 Oklahoma (6-1). Their remaining losses were by two runs or less.
Lehigh will begin season play at the NC State Wolfpack Challenge. The Mountain Hawks won the Patriot League Championship on their way to an NCAA Championship run last spring.
Georgetown faces NC State on Friday, with a split doubleheader against Toledo on Friday and Saturday. The Hoyas continue play on Saturday against Kent State and finish the NC State Wolfpack Challenge with Lehigh on Sunday morning. All games will be available on Game Tracker through guhoyas.com.
