March 6, 2012

WASHINGTON -

The Georgetown University softball team (8-9) will travel to Orlando, Fla., for a doubleheader with UCF (13-7) on Wednesday, March 7. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.

The Blue & Gray looks to get back in the win column this week after ending the Citrus Classic Tournament dropping three straight games. Two of those losses came in late-game situations by just one run.

Catcher Shikara Lowe (Beaverton, Ore./Jesuit) and shortstop Alexandria Anttila (Antioch, Ill./Antioch Community) lead the Hoyas on offense combining for 30 hits, 23 RBI, seven doubles, and four homeruns. Lowe currently ranks fourth in the BIG EAST with just over one hit a game batting .442 (19-for-43). She has the most batting attempts of any player in the top five. Taylor Koenig (Akron. Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) rounds out the top ten in batting average in the BIG EAST at number nine, batting .429 (6-for-14).

Elyse Graziano (Floral Park, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) leads the BIG EAST in stolen bases with eight. She has converted on all of her stolen base attempts in 2012.

Lauren O'Leary (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) posts a 2.83 ERA to lead all Georgetown pitchers. Fellow freshman Megan Hyson (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) and O'Leary have combined for 80 strikeouts this season. O'Leary and Hyson rank eighth and tenth respectively in the BIG EAST in strikeouts.
