Hall Leads Georgetown Men's Golf to Fifth Place Finish at BIG EAST

Senior Taylor Hall (Roswell, Ga./Trinity Catholic) finished in fifth place and the Georgetown University men's golf team shot a 4-over par 292 in the final round of play to finish in fifth place among 12 teams at the BIG EAST Championship, played on the Watson Course at the Reunion Golf & Club in Orlando, Florida.

The Hoyas had entered the final round of play tied for fifth place with Connecticut but were two strokes better than the Huskies on Tuesday, earning the fifth place finish.

Georgetown posted a 54-hole score of 19-over par 883. Notre Dame won the BIG EAST title, finishing at 12-under par 852, with Louisville second (4-over par 868), Villanova third (6-over par 870) and St. John's fourth (12-over par 876).

Hall shot a 1-over par 73 in the final round and finished in fifth place in the field of 60 golfers at 2-under par 214. The 73 was his first round above par after scores of 2-under par 70 and 1-under par 71, respectively.

Sophomore Charlie von Arentschildt (Scottsdale, Ariz./Deerfield Academy) continued his strong play this spring, firing a 3-under par 69 in Tuesday's final round to tie for 15th place at 4-over par 220.

Senior Brian Dorfman (Greenwood Village, Colo./Cherry Creek) struggled in the final round with a 7-over par 79 and tied for 38th place at 12-over par 228.

After a tough first round, freshman Greg Podufal (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) turned in his second-straight lower round, carding an even-par 72 in the final round. He had opened with a 7-over par 79 in the first round, but bounced back with a 1-over par 73 in the second round. Podufal tied for 26th place at 8-over par 224.

Junior Justin Edwards (Westlake Village, Calif./Westlake Village) shot a 6-over par 78 in the final round and tied for 52nd place at 20-over par 236.

The fifth place finish for the Hoyas was the 14th top-five league finish in the last 21 years under Head Coach Tommy Hunter.
