Barnes Earns a Spot on BIG EAST All-Tournament Squad

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University women's lacrosse senior defender Kelly Barnes (St. David's, Pa./Radnor) was named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Squad this past weekend finishing out her career on the Hilltop. She was one of 12 student-athletes to earn the distinction and the lone player from Georgetown. This is her first-career nod to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team.

Recently, Barnes was named First Team All-BIG EAST. The two-year co-captain led the squad in ground balls with 43 and ranks third on the team in caused turnovers forcing 22. She is the leader of the defense and has started all 17 games this season for the Blue & Gray. Barnes earned a nod to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll already this season. It was her third selection to the all-conference squad and the second to the first team.

In the BIG EAST Tournament loss to top-seeded Syracuse, The defense held the Orange to just seven goals, eventually falling, 7-6. Barnes had one caused turnovers and one draw control in the contest.

Barnes currently ranks among the all-time career leaders in draw controls posting 50 and caused turnovers with 72.

Georgetown finished the season with a record of 9-8 overall and a mark of 5-3 in BIG EAST Conference play.
