WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's golf team is back in action this weekend, playing in the Wolverine Invitational, being held at the U-M Golf Course on the campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
The 14-team field includes Akron, Bucknell, Butler, Delaware, Eastern Michigan, Ferris State, Florida International, Georgetown, Grand Valley State, Illinois, host Michigan, North Texas, Toledo and Xavier.
The teams will play 36 holes on Saturday, Sept. 22 before closing out with 18 holes on Sunday, Sept. 23. The tournament will be played on the par-71, 6.112-yard U-M Golf Course.
Georgetown opened the 2012-13 year with a sixth place finish at the Golfweek Program Challenge, held from Sept. 9-11 in Pawley's Island, S.C.
"This group really meshes together well," Head Coach Katie Brophy said. "We had 15 personal bests in our first event, and I look forward to building on that success at Michigan."
Sophomore transfer Viktoria Lager (Princeton, N.J./West Florida Christian School) and junior Stefanie Soelling (Everett, Wash./Everett) each posted top-20 finishes to lead the team in the season opener. Lager and Soelling carded scores of 4-over par 75 in the final round to finish with identical scores of 18-over par 231, tying for 19th place overall.
Junior Alice Choi (Whitestone, N.Y./Bayside) shot a team-best 3-over par 74 in the third round and finished in 27th place at 21-over par 234, while senior co-captain Katie Skinner (Boise, Idaho/Bishop Kelly) finished in 50th place with a 31-over par 234 after a final round 12-over par 83.
Freshman Patricia Lee (Lone Tree, Colo./Highlands Ranch) finished in 53rd place at 33-over par 246, posting a 12-over par 83 on Tuesday.
