Georgetown to Host Seton Hall on MASN

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball squad will host the Seton Hall University Pirates on Saturday afternoon in a BIG EAST Conference matchup at McDonough Arena. The Hoyas are currently 10-7 overall and 1-3 in BIG EAST Conference play. The game will be televised live on MASN as the BIG EAST Game of the Week with Bob Picozzi and LaChina Robinson calling the action.

In its last outing, Georgetown lost its third in a row in BIG EAST play dropping a 79-64 decision to the No. 2/3 University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Tuesday evening at the Joyce Center. Sophomore guard Jasmine Jackson (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) led the way with a career-best 15 points, while senior shooting guard Sugar Rodgers (Suffolk, Va./King's Fork) and junior forward Andrea White (Lancaster, Va./Lancaster) both scored 14 points. White had 12 rebounds for the double-double. The Hoyas were even in rebounds and forced 28 Irish turnovers, but got into foul trouble allowing UND to pull away.

Currently leading the way for the Hoyas is Rodgers. The shooting guard is averaging 24.6 ppg and 7.6 rpg as well as posting 61 steals and 57 assists. White is second with 10.9 ppg and 5.8 rpg, while senior center Sydney Wilson (Silver Spring, Md./St. John's College Prep) rounds out the top three with 7.1 ppg as well as 5.4 rpg. Junior guard Samisha Powell (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) is averaging 6.6 ppg and has 54 assists on the season.

The Hoyas have forced 415 turnovers in 17 games.

Seton Hall (7-10, 2-2) lost a tightly contested matchup to Marquette, 56-53, on Tuesday night. Three players did a bulk of the scoring for SHU, with senior Brittany Morris, redshirt sophomore Ka-Deidre Simmons and sophomore Alexis Brown combining to score 45 of Seton Hall's 53 points.

Morris led the team with 18 points on 7-of-15 shooting, hitting four of her seven three-point shots. Simmons, who has now scored in double figures in nine-straight games, notched 17 points with three assists and four steal and Brown scored in double figures for the third time this season, contributing 10 points to go along with a team-high four assists.

Georgetown is 23-30 all-time against the Pirates and have won the last three meetings. In the last game, the Hoyas won by a score of 56-51 at McDonough Arena. Rodgers had 23 points and 11 rebounds in the win. Since the beginning of BIG EAST play, GU is 22-28 and Georgetown is 14-11 at home.

Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m., at the McDonough Arena. The game will be televised live on MASN as part of the BIG EAST Network with Bob Picozzi and LaChina Robinson calling the action. Live stats and an audio-only broadcast will be available at www.GUHoyas.com.

Saturday is also Kids Take Over McDonough Day where Kid's Club members are invited to help run the game.
