Georgetown to Face Northeastern in First Round of 2013 Puerto Rico Tip-Off

The Georgetown University men's basketball team will face Northeastern in the first round of the 2013 Puerto Rico Tip-Off, to be played Nov. 21-24 at Roberto Clemente Coliseo in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The full bracket for the eight-team field was announced on Tuesday morning. In addition to the Hoyas, the field includes Charlotte, Florida State, Kansas State, Long Beach State, Northeastern, Michigan and VCU.

Georgetown's game against Northeastern will be played on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 12:30 p.m. (ET) on ESPNU. The winner of that game advances to play either Charlotte or Kansas State on Friday, Nov. 22 at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN2 or ESPNU.

All 12 games of the 2013 Puerto Rico Tip-Off will be televised on the ESPN Networks (ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN3). San Juan is in the Atlantic time zone (one hour ahead of ET, two hours ahead of CT and four hours ahead of PT). Tipoff times and ESPN Networks are subject to change.

The other half of the bracket includes first round games between Long Beach State and Michigan (Thursday, Nov. 21, 5 p.m. ET) and Florida State against VCU (7:30 p.m. ET).

Final round games will be played on Sunday, Nov. 24. The seventh place game will tip off at 11:30 a.m. and the fifth place game at 2 p.m. The third place game will tip at 4:30 p.m. on ESPN2 and the championship game at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN2.

Georgetown finished the 2012-13 season with a 25-7 record and earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Hoyas won a share of the BIG EAST Regular Season Championship and were the No. 1 seed in the tournament after posting a 14-4 record in league play. The Hoyas were ranked No. 8 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll and No. 8 in the USA Today Coaches' poll and closed out the regular season with 12 wins in 13 games. The Hoyas are one of only four schools in the country to be ranked in the Associated Press top 10 at least once in each of the last seven seasons and Georgetown is also ranked fifth nationally in Associated Press top 25 poll appearances (116) since January 2006.
