WASHINGTON – The Georgetown men’s tennis squad announced their schedule for the 2013-2014 academic year.
The Hoyas open the season at the Farnsworth Invitational in Princeton, N.J. in a three day tournament from Fri., Sept 13 to Sun., Sept. 15. Teams participating in the Invitational include Binghamton, Bucknell, Buffalo, Columbia, Cornell, Fairleigh Dickinson, Monmouth, NYIT, Penn, Princeton, St. John's, Temple and Yale.
Georgetown then hosts the Georgetown Classic, a three day tournament, the following weekend starting Fri., Sept 2.
Play in October includes the Margaux Powers Memorial Tournament in Providence, R.I. on Sat., Oct. 5 and a home match against the University of D.C. on Tues., Oct 15. The fall matches conclude with the ITA Regionals in Blacksburg, Va. from Thurs., Oct. 17 to Sun., Oct. 20.
The Hoyas start the 2014 year at the 4+1 Invite in Richmond, Va. on January 17 followed by a February 1 match at George Mason. Georgetown then hosts Richmond, travels to Yale and Bryant and then plays at home against Davidson on February 5, 8, 9 and 22, respectively.
The squad then begins a three-match road trip in California when they play UC Santa Barbara, UC Riverside and UC Irvine on March 8, 10 and 11.
The men’s tennis team finishes the season staying locally for its final seven matches when they host Penn, Xavier and Connecticut then play at UMBC in Baltimore and at George Washington before closing out the season at home against Norfolk State and Villanova.
The BIG EAST Tournament is scheduled for April 24, 25 and 26 in New York City. In previous years, the tournament was held in Norte Dame, Ind. and Tampa, Fla.
