Senior midfielder Daphne Corboz
(Green Brook, N.J./Watchung Hills) scored three times and Georgetown scored five second half goals en route to an 8-0 win over Seton Hall on Friday night.
The win closes the regular season for the Hoyas with an 11-3-4 overall record and a 6-1-2 mark in the BIG EAST. The win, combined with a loss by St. John's to DePaul, gives Georgetown the No. 2 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament.
The Hoyas received an automatic bid to the tournament semifinals next Friday, Nov. 7 at St. John's. The Hoyas will play the winner of a match between Villanova and St. John's on Friday at 5 p.m.
"Obviously, this was a big win for us tonight," Head Coach Dave Nolan said. "The other results went our way and we knew going into the game what we needed to do and the team came out strong and we got on top of them early. We were able to get everyone into the game and got some players much needed rest."
Corboz scored three times, once in the first half and two more times in the second half. She finishes the regular season with 36 points, scoring 10 goals with 16 assists.
Senior forward Vanessa Skrumbis (Encino, Calif./Sierra Canyon) scored two goals, while senior Audra Ayotte (Marlborough, Conn./RHAM), sophomore forward Grace Damaska (Milton, Ga./Blessed Trinity) and freshman Taylor Pak (Wellington, Fla./American Heritage) each scored one goal.
