Matt Hollenbeck will get his third start of the season on Saturday.

Camporini, Hollenbeck Earn Nods to BIG EAST Honor Roll

March 11, 2014

WASHINGTON - A duo of Georgetown baseball players were honored by the BIG EAST on Tuesday. Senior left fielder Patrick Camporini (Safety Harbor, Fla./Clearwater Central Catholic) and junior pitcher Matt Hollenbeck (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) were both named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for their efforts in games against Western Michigan and South Dakota St. this past weekend.

Camporini batted .625 (5-8), raising his season batting average an astounding 94 points in just two games this weekend at the Snowbird Classic. After a 2-4 performance in a tough 6-4 loss to Western Michigan on Saturday, Camporini went 3-4, a career-high in hits, with two RBI and was also hit by a pitch in a come-from-behind 7-4 victory over South Dakota St. on Sunday. In all, Camporini reached base safely in six of nine plate appearances for a .667 on-base percentage.

Hollenbeck had one of his best outings of his career on Sunday, coming out of the bullpen to work five scoreless innings to help lead Georgetown to a come-from-behind 7-4 victory over South Dakota St. The junior southpaw set a career-high with seven strikeouts, including striking out the side in the bottom of the ninth, while only giving up four hits as the Hoyas rallied from a 4-0 deficit after he came into the game.

Camporini and Hollenbeck join senior first baseman Steve Anderson (Albany, N.Y./Northfield Mt. Hermon Prep (Mass.)/Guilderland) who was also named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll back on Feb. 24 following his performance in the series versus Hartford.

Georgetown (4-7) and South Dakota St. will meet up again on Tuesday afternoon at the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Fla. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. David Ellingson (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands College Park) is scheduled to make his first career start for the Hoyas.
