WASHINGTON - Graduate student Tyler Knarr (Eagleville, Pa./LaSalle College) was named to the BIG EAST men's lacrosse weekly honor roll, when the conference named its weekly awards on Monday afternoon. It is the second time Knarr has been selected to the honor roll this season.
Knarr picked up a program-record 18 ground balls and went 20-of-29 at the face-off X against Furman on Wednesday, before going 13-of-24 with eight ground balls in the Hoyas loss to St. John's in its BIG EAST Conference opening loss to St. John's on Saturday.
Overall, Knarr is 12th NCAA Division I in face-off win percentage at .614 percent (94-of-153) and second in the nation in ground balls per game (10.0). Knarr continues to climb the Georgetown career rankings, currently second in program history in face-off win percentage (.593) behind only Andy Corno. He is fourth in program history in ground balls (226), behind Corno (341), Brodie Merrill (250) and Kyle Sweeney (229).
Georgetown returns to action on Wednesday, March 19 when they host No. 2 Loyola (6-1, 3-0 Patriot League), with the opening face-off scheduled for 6:07 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network with Dave Ryan and Evan Washburn providing the call. Wednesday's game can also be viewed live via Hoyavision on the Georgetown Athletics official website - www.guhoyas.com. Chuck Timanus and Harry Alford will call the action with Marissa Pilla providing reports from the sideline.
