Tyler Knarr Named to BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll

WASHINGTON - Graduate student Tyler Knarr (Eagleville, Pa./LaSalle College) was named to the BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll when the conference named its weekly awards on Monday afternoon. The weekly honor is the third for Knarr this season and fifth of his career.

Knarr went 32-of-51 at the face-off X, with 23 ground balls for the Hoyas in losses at Villanova on Wednesday and against No. 6 Denver on Saturday. Against the Pioneers, he won 20-of-27 face-offs, tying his season-high and picked up 14 ground balls.

A Second Team BIG EAST selection following the 2013 season, Knarr has helped the Hoyas excel on face-offs. His .627 (141-for-226) face-off winning percentage is second in the BIG EAST and 11th in the nation, while his 10.8 ground balls per game leads the BIG EAST and is second in the nation. Knarr's 108 ground balls is more than any player in NCAA Division I.

Knarr continues to climb the Georgetown record books, moving past Brodie Merrill on Saturday for second in program history in career ground balls with 264. His career 397 face-off wins is third behind Andy Corno (624) and Brian Tabb (403), while his .599 career face-off win percentage is second in program history behind Andy Corno (.641).

The Georgetown University men's lacrosse team (3-7, 0-3 BIG EAST) hosts Providence College (3-7, 0-2 BIG EAST) in a BIG EAST matchup at Multi-Sport Field. Opening face-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. The Hoyas will play Saturday's game in dedication to The Friends of Jaclyn Foundation. Proceeds from Saturday's game will benefit Friends of Jaclyn, whose focus is on improving the quality of life for children with pediatric brain tumors.
