July 7, 2014

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University men's golf Head Coach Tommy Hunter announced his squad's 2014 fall schedule, set to open on Saturday, September 6 at the two-day U.S. Naval Academy Invite and concluding when they host the 30th Annual Georgetown Intercollegiate at The Members Club at Four Streams in Beallsville, Md.

Overall, the Hoyas who return six members of last year's team, including All-BIG EAST selection Greg Podufal (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep), will participate in five tournaments during the fall season.

"Our fall schedule presents exciting challenges and the opportunity to play some of the finest golf courses in the nation, in particular, Firestone and Shoal Creek," Hunter said.

Hunter's Hoyas will open its fall schedule at The U.S. Naval Academy Invite for the third time in the past five seasons on September 6 and 7. The Hoyas will return to action three weeks after its opening-weekend in Annapolis when they travel to Birmingham, Alabama for The Shoal Creek Invitational hosted by UAB on September 29 and 30.

The following weekend GU takes part in The Firestone Invitational for the second consecutive season. The Hoyas will be looking to improve on a 14th place finish from a year ago at the invitational hosted by Akron in Firestone, Ohio.

Georgetown will travel to Philmont, Pa. for The Big Five Invitational hosted by Temple at The Philmont Golf Club on October 11 and 12. This will be the first time since 2007 that the Hoyas will compete in The Big Five Invitational.

The Blue & Gray conclude its fall schedule at The 30th Annual Georgetown Intercollegiate at its home course, The Members Club at Four Streams in Beallsville, Md.
