WASHINGTON - Junior forward Brandon Allen (Old Bridge, N.J./St. Joseph's) earned weekly honors on Monday as he helped the No. 6 Georgetown University men's soccer squad (2-1-3) to a 0-1-1 week against two tough opponents. It is the second-consecutive week that Allen has been recognized by the conference.
Allen was named to the honor roll after scoring a pair of goals on the week. In the 2-1 overtime loss to Virginia Commonwealth University, Allen scored GU's lone goal in the 50th minute. The Rams eventually tied it to send it into extra time. On Sunday, Allen scored in the 33rd minute against the No. 9 UC Irvine Anteaters. The Hoyas and Anteaters tied, 1-1, after 110 minutes of soccer.
Allen totaled four points and eight shots for the week. He is currently leading the squad in scoring with four goals and two assists on the season for 10 points.
This is Allen's second nod to the honor roll this season and the third of his career. It mark's Georgetown's third honor roll award of 2014.
The Hoyas will head back out on the road on Wednesday as the squad travels to Princeton, N.J., to battle the Princeton University Tigers at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU and live stats will be available through the Tigers' athletic website.
