Sept. 22, 2014 WASHINGTON -
Georgetown University senior women's soccer player Daphne Corboz
(Green Brook, N.J./Watchung Hills) was selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after her performance in a game this past weekend. It was the second time this season she has been selected to the honor roll.
Corboz helped the Hoyas to a 2-0 win over Duquesne on Sunday at Shaw Field in the team's final non-league game of the regular season.
Georgetown, ranked No. 17 in the country by TopDrawerSoccer.com, improved to 5-2-2 overall this season with the win.
Corboz scored a goal and had an assist in the win. The team's first goal came on a seven-yard blast from the far side of the box off a feed from her sister, freshman Rachel Corboz (Green Brook, N.J./Pingry). She added an assist later in the first half, with her corner kick leading to a goal for senior forward Vanessa Skrumbis (Encino, Calif./Sierra Canyon).
The three points for Corboz give her 108 for her career, tying Ingrid Wells (C'11) for the all-time lead in scoring on the Hilltop. Corboz, who has five goals and six assists for 16 points this season, is the school's all-time leader in goals scored (40) and ranks third all-time in assists (28).
Georgetown opens BIG EAST Conference play on Thursday, Sept. 25, visiting DePaul. Kickoff in Chicago is slated for 3 p.m. (ET). Live stats and video will be available on www.depaulbluedemons.com.
