WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's lacrosse squad has announced its 2014 fall schedule. The Hoyas will play on five dates with two all-day events. The Blue & Gray will face five 2014 NCAA Tournament squads as well as match up against two Final Four teams and the reigning national champ.
The fall will begin on Saturday, September 20 as the squad hosts its annual banquet at the Key Bridge Marriott. Alums, parents or fans looking to buy tickets to the banquet should contact Georgetown Assistant Coach Meg Dentler.
The Hoyas will open the fall hosting the U.S. Naval Academy on September 26 at 7 p.m. The following day, the Blue & Gray will host the University of Virginia at noon at home. The Cavaliers advanced to last year's Final Four. This contest will be followed up by the alumnae game at Multi-Sport Field.
On October 5, Georgetown will participate in the Play for Parkinson's event at Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Va. The Blue & Gray will face three NCAA tournament teams in Duke University, Penn State University as well as national champion, the University of Maryland. The men's event is Saturday, while the women take the field on Sunday.
The following weekend, the Blue & Gray will host its own tournament at Multi-Sport Field. Georgetown will host James Madison University at 9:30 a.m., and Lehigh University next. At 1:30 p.m., GU will take on the University of Denver who advanced to last year's NCAA Tournament.
The Hoyas will round out the fall on the following day at Georgetown Visitation as the play Denver one more time at noon.
Georgetown completed the 2014 season with a record of 11-9 and its second-consecutive NCAA Tournament berth. The Hoyas advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and also appeared in the BIG EAST Tournament Championship Game.
