Peter Conley Selected to 2015 Preseason Men's Lacrosse All-BIG EAST Team

Jan. 29, 2015

WASHINGTON - Sophomore midfielder Peter Conley (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) was named to the 2015 Preseason Men's Lacrosse All-BIG EAST Team and the Hoyas were selected second in the preseason coaches' poll when the conference announced preseason honors on Thursday afternoon.

Conley had a breakout freshman season, leading the Hoyas with 37 points (24 goals, 13 assists) to earn All-BIG EAST First Team honors following the season. He was the first GU freshman to earn All-BIG EAST accolades since the league began in 2010.

"Peter was a key player in our offense during his freshman season and has worked hard to continue to develop his overall game," Head Coach Kevin Warne said. "He has the potential to be one of the best players in our league and we're going to do everything we can to make sure he fulfills that potential."

Georgetown, in its third season under Warne, was selected second in the preseason poll with 18 points, behind only Denver (25 points, 5 first place votes). Villanova (17 points), Marquette (16 points), St. John's (nine points) and Providence (five points) round out the rest of the poll.

Georgetown returns seven starters including six of last season's top eight scorers with Conley, senior attackmen Reilly O'Connor (Brooklin, Ontario/The Hill Academy) (15 goals, 12 assists) and Bo Stafford (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) (13 goals, 18 assists) and senior midfielder Charles McCormick (Bronxville, N.Y./Bronxville) (13 goals, 5 assists).

The Hoyas also return four defenders who started at least four games last season, including senior Bryson Greene (Towson, Md./McDonogh), who led the team with 14 caused turnovers. The Blue & Gray welcome 14 newcomers to the Hilltop, including a freshman class of 12 that was the No. 20 recruiting class in the nation by Inside Lacrosse.
