WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University volleyball team travels to Seton Hall and Villanova this weekend for a pair of BIG EAST Conference matches. GU's matchup with the Pirates is set for 7 p.m. on Friday evening and the contest against the Wildcats is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Saturday.

The Hoyas split a pair of home matches last weekend, falling to St. John's (3-0) on Friday, before defeating Providence (3-1) on Sunday afternoon. Symone Speech (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after averaging 3.43 kills per set and 1.43 blocks per set, while hitting at a .500 clip. She led the Hoyas in kills in both matches and set a career high with seven total blocks against Providence. Against the Friars, Liv King (Ardmore, Pa./Lower Merion) also set a pair of career highs with four service aces and a .421 hitting percentage Ã¢â'¬" 10 kills on 19 swings.
For the season, Alyssa Sinnette
(Pearland, Texas/Dawson) leads the Hoyas with 316 kills and 3.51 kills per set. Speech leads the front court with 0.75 blocks per set and has a team-high .306 hitting percentage. Paige McKnight
(Atlanta, Ga./Dunwoody) is averaging 9.84 assists per set and leads the team with 32 service aces, while Kenzie Higareda
(Woodbridge, Va./Forest Park) is atop the defense with 4.56 digs per set.
Seton Hall enters Friday's match at 11-12 overall and a 5-6 mark in BIG EAST play. Earlier this season, the Hoyas fell to Seton Hall in five sets at McDonough Arena. King had a career-high 23 kills in that match, while McKnight had a personal-best 54 assists.
The Pirates are led by Amanda Hansen and Danielle Schroeder who are averaging 2.77 and 2.74 kills per set, respectively. Tessa Fournier leads the defense, ranking second in the BIG EAST, with 4.97 digs per set.
Villanova comes into the weekend with a 19-5 overall mark and is currently second in the BIG EAST with a 9-2 record. The Wildcats, who had an eight-match winning streak snapped in their last match, defeated Georgetown last month, 3-0, at McDonough Arena. Allie Loitz leads the Villanova offense with 3.49 kills per set and is second in the BIG EAST with 34 service aces. Emma Pettit is atop the entire conference with 11.23 assists per set and Gabby Pethokoukis is among the conference leaders with 1.08 blocks per set.
Following this weekend, the Hoyas will remain on the road for a pair of matches next weekend at DePaul and Marquette.
