No. 12/13 Hoyas Host No. 21/19 Butler for Homecoming

Oct. 9, 2015

WASHINGTON - The No. 12/13 Georgetown University men's soccer squad will host the No. 21/19 Butler University Bulldogs (6-1-3, 2-0-0 BIG EAST) in a BIG EAST Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon at noon at Shaw Field for Homecoming Weekend 2015. The Hoyas are currently 6-2-2 on the season and 2-0-0 in BIG EAST Conference play, tying the squad for first place with Butler and Creighton University.

On Monday, senior defender Keegan Rosenberry (Ronks, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) earned BIG EAST weekly honors as he helped GU to a 1-0 overtime victory on the road over the then-No. 20 Xavier University Musketeers on Saturday evening.

Rosenberry scored the game-winning goal in overtime against Xavier to keep Georgetown on its current seven-game unbeaten streak. The senior helped the defense to a shutout in the 1-0 victory and allowed just one shot on goal in 10 shots. It was Rosenberry's first nod to the honor roll this season, and the third BIG EAST award of his career on the Hilltop. It was also the second weekly honor roll award for the Hoyas so far in 2015.

Junior forward Alex Muyl (New York, N.Y./Bard) and senior forward Brandon Allen (Old Bridge, N.J./St. Joseph) lead the team in scoring with 12 points apiece. Muyl has posted four goals and four assists on the season, while Allen has 11 points on three goals and a squad-best six assists including assisting on the game winner at Xavier. Sophomore midfielder Arun Basuljevic (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) rounds out the top three with eight points on three goals and two assists for the year.

Freshman goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski (Alamo, Calif./De La Salle) has been impressive in the net with 37 saves to his credit over 10 games as well as three shutouts.

Butler fell to SIU-Edwardsville, 2-1, at the Butler Bowl Tuesday night, marking the first blemish on the Bulldogs' record. The squad is led by Vincent Mitchell who earned a place on the College Soccer News National Team of the Week for the second-consecutive week on Monday. Mitchell has also been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for three-straight weeks. Mitchell has eight goals and two assists for 18 points on the season, ranking him second in the BIG EAST.

The Hoyas are 2-0 all-time against the Bulldogs, beginning the series in 2013. Last year, GU downed Butler on the road, 2-0, as Allen scored two goals in the victory. In the last meeting at Shaw Field, the Hoyas won, 4-1. Steve Neumann scored a pair of goals in the contest, while Allen and Muyl both added a score.
