WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's basketball team hit the road today as the Hoyas travel to play at Charlotte on Tuesday, Dec. 22 at Time-Warner Arena. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.

The game will be shown live on CBS Sports Network, with Brent Stover calling the play-by-play and Bob Wenzel serving as the color analyst. Fans locally can tune in to the radio broadcast of Rich Chvotkin on 106.7 FM The Fan WJFK.

The Hoyas will be looking to snap a two-game losing streak following a 79-73 loss at home to UNC Asheville. The loss wrapped up a seven-game homestand during which the Blue & Gray posted a 5-2 record. Georgetown enters Tuesday night's game, its last before the start of BIG EAST Conference play, with a 6-5 overall record.

Senior guard D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central/Oak Hill) leads Georgetown in scoring with 15.4 points per game and with 3.8 assists per game. He is also averaging 2.9 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game. The 6-3 guard scored 18 points last week against Monmouth and moved past Allen Iverson on Georgetown's all-time scoring list and into a tie for No. 13 all-time with Brandon Bowman (C'06) entering the weekend. Smith-Rivera now has 1,555 career points and trails John Duren, who ranks 12th all-time with 1,587 points.

He grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds in the loss to UNC Asheville, the most by a single player under Head Coach John Thompson III and the most by a Georgetown player since Mike Sweetney had 19 against Syracuse in 2003.

Sophomore guard L.J. Peak (Gaffney, S.C./Gaffney) is fourth on the team in scoring with 9.8 points per game, and is grabbing 2.7 rebounds per game, while freshman forward Marcus Derrickson (Bowie, Md./Brewster Academy [N.H.]) is averaging 7.5 points and 4.5 rebounds.

The Hoyas have received healthy contributions from their bench as well, with that group averaging 19.8 points, 14.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. Junior forward Reggie Cameron (Hackensack, N.J./Hudson Catholic) is averaging 5.8 points and 2.4 rebounds.

Georgetown's freshman class -- Derrickson, center Jessie Govan (Queens Village, N.Y./Wings Academy) and forward Kaleb Johnson (South Hill, Va./Carlisle School) -- has combined to average 18.0 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. Johnson scored a career-high 16 points on Saturday against UNC Asheville.

Charlotte enters Tuesday's game with a 2-8 record. The 49ers snapped a six-game losing streak on Saturday with an 82-66 win at Appalachian State. Charlotte opened the season with losses to Elon and East Carolina before beating Furman, 77-68.
