Georgetown Field Hockey Earns Academic Recognition by NFHCA

March 11, 2015

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University field hockey program was recognized by Gladiator by SGI/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) on Monday for posting a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the first semester of the 2014-2015 academic year.

GU was one of 71 Division I institutions to be recognized for its work in the classroom during the fall of 2014. This is the eighth-straight year the Blue & Gray has been recognized by the NFCHA.

"Being a student-athlete at such a prestigious academic institution as Georgetown University is no easy task," Head Coach Shannon Soares said. "These young women are eager to succeed in the classroom, on the field and in life. They relentlessly pursue excellence and continue to raise the bar for this program. As a staff, we are proud of their hard work."

The 2014 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Scholars of Distinction will be released on Monday, March 16. Last season, 16 Georgetown scholar-athletes were named to the Division I National Academic Squad and sophomore Rosalie Nolen (West Chester, Pa./Reed Henderson) earned Scholar of Distinction honors.
