Hoya Notes ...
The Hoyas have won nine of their past 12 games to move to .500 on the season, currently sitting at 10-10. In those 12 games, Georgetown has raised its team batting average more than 40 points from .236 to .277. In the same period, the pitching staff has lowered its ERA more than a full point from 4.84 to 3.67. Both now rank second among BIG EAST teams.
Georgetown had not shut out an opponent since April 21, 2013, but recorded shutouts in back-to-back victories. The Blue & Gray defeated Brown, 12-0, in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday before upsetting No. 12 Virginia, 1-0, on Tuesday.
The Hoyas' 1-0 win over No.12 Virginia on Tuesday was their first victory against a ranked opponent since a 6-3 win over Louisville on April 7, 2012.
Nick Collins (Carthage, N.C./Union Pines) hit two home runs in an 8-2 victory at UMES on Wednesday, becoming the first Hoya to hit two home runs in one game since Dan Capeless accomplished the feat against St. John's on April 24, 2010.
Last Time Out ...
The Hoyas started slowly, but overcame an early two-run deficit to defeat UMES, 8-2 on Wednesday. Collins had two home runs while Jimmy Swad (Washington, D.C./St. Albans School) pitched three scoreless innings in relief for his second win of the season. Tim Davis (Vienna, Va./James Madison HS) also pitched three scoreless innings of relief, picking up his first save of the year.

The Bisons have already played two BIG EAST opponents this season, sweeping Butler in a three-game series to open the year before winning two-of-three games last weekend against Xavier. They come in with a .281 team batting average and the pitching staff has an ERA of just 3.39.
