WASHINGTON - Senior attack Reilly O'Connor was named BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week after tying his career-high with five goals in the No. 14/13 Georgetown University men's lacrosse team's (8-4, 3-1 BIG EAST) 17-8 victory over Villanova on Saturday.
O'Connor had five goals and one assist to help the Hoyas clinch their first berth in the BIG EAST Championships since 2013 and its first win over Villanova since 2011. O'Connor earned the sixth weekly conference honor of his career, but his first offensive player of the week.
With six points against Villanova on Saturday, O'Connor has accumulated 124 career points to move into a 14th place tie with Rickey Mirabito on Georgetown's all-time list. In five career games against the Wildcats O'Connor has 22 points.
Freshman goalie Nick Marrocco (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) earned his third weekly award with a spot on the honor roll. Marrocco made 18 saves and limited Villanova to eight goals to record his eighth win of the season. The freshman currently leads the BIG EAST and is second in the nation with 13.58 saves per game, while placing third in the league allowing 10.64 goals per game.
The Hoyas travel to Charlottesville, Va. to take on No. 9/10 Virginia on Saturday afternoon. The opening faceoff at Klockner Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m.
