PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The No. 17 Georgetown University men's lacrosse team (6-4, 1-1 BIG EAST) travels north to take on BIG EAST opponent Providence (4-5, 0-1 BIG EAST) on Saturday afternoon. The opening faceoff at the Ray Treacy Track & Field Complex is scheduled for 1 p.m.
SERIES HISTORY: Georgetown meets Providence for the ninth time having won the last seven matchups, including the last two at Multi-Sport Field. GU's last trip to Providence was in 2012, when the Hoyas escaped with a 7-6 victory. Two of the last three games between the two teams have been decided by two goals or less, though the Blue & Gray have not lost to PC since the first meeting in 1987. Senior attack Reilly O'Connor (Brooklin, Ontario/The Hill Academy) has 11 points in three previous meetings with the Friars, including a nine point effort in 2013. O'Connor scored his first conference goal against PC in 2012.

LAST GAME: Georgetown jumped out to a 3-0 lead against No. 5 Denver on goals from William Flatley (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga), Devon Lewis (Orlando, Fla./Lake Highland Prep) and Mitch Hugdahl (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie). The Pioneers would score the next 11 goals, as they would win 25-consecutive faceoffs on their way to a 13-5 halftime lead and 19-7 victory. Colorado native Eduardo White (Littleton, Colo/Kent Denver) scored two goals in his homecoming, while senior attack Bo Stafford scored a goal to continue his 21-consecutive games with a point. All four of GU's losses have come to top-20 teams, with three of those losses coming to top five opponents.
Bo Stafford KEEPS POINTS STREAK ALIVE: Senior attack Bo Stafford (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) scored a second quarter goal against Denver to keep his streak of 21-consecutive games with at least one point alive. Stafford, who was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending on March 21, leads the Hoyas with 33 points (19 goals, 14 assists).
Reilly O'Connor CLIMBING RECORD BOOKS: Senior attack Reilly O'Connor became the 20th player in GU history to cross the 100-point barrier with four points against Hobart earlier this season. He is now 16th in points with 115, one behind Mark Murphy. He is also tied for 10th in career assists with 58, tied with Dan Martin.
ABOUT PROVIDENCE: The Friars enter the game with a 4-5 overall and 0-1 in conference play after a 17-7 loss to St. John's last Saturday. Providence is led by junior attack Will Mazzone who has recorded 22 points on 12 goals and 10 assists. Mazzone has also collected 20 ground balls in nine games. Senior attack Buck McClure is second on the team with 18 points on 10 goals and eight assists. Senior midfield Greg FitzMaurice is tied for the team lead in goals scored with 12. Graduate student Cole McCormack has taken the majority of faceoffs for Providence and owns a .483 win percentage (43-89). Head Coach Chris Gabrielli is in his third season at the helm of the Friars program. Gabrielli and Georgetown Head Coach Kevin Warne took over their respective programs two months apart.
