WASHINGTON - Sophomore Molly Fitzpatrick (Manchester, N.H./The Derryfield School) was named the BIG EAST Female Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week on Tuesday evening, when the league announced its weekly honors. It is the first time Fitzpatrick has won a conference weekly honor.
Fitzpatrick helped Georgetown to dual meet victories over American and George Washington this weekend with a pair of first-place finishes. On Friday at AU, Fitzpatrick won the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:12.69. On Saturday, she won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:26.77 against the Colonials.
"Molly was a key to our team wins this weekend at both AU and GW for the women," Head Coach Jamie Holder said. "Overall it was a great team performance all round, but it is great that she is being recognized by the league for her accomplishments, she work hard for all she achieves."
Georgetown's regularly scheduled home dual meet against Drexel has been moved to Thursday, January 21 with the threat of inclement weather in the Mid-Atlantic region. The Hoyas and Dragons will begin competition at 5 p.m. at McCarthy Pool.
The Hoyas home dual meet with Rider is still scheduled for Friday, January 22 at 4 p.m.
