WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's golf team is heading to Fort Myers, Fla., for the Homewood Suites/Hilton Garden Airport FGCU Classic. The 54-hole tournament takes place at the Old Corkscrew Golf Club on Monday, October 24, beginning at 8:30 am and will conclude on October 25.
In addition to host Florida Gulf Coast the 16 team tournament includes Eastern Kentucky, Central Florida, Ohio, Stetson, South Dakota State, Creighton, Bethune-Cookman, St. Bonaventure, Florida Atlantic, Central Connecticut State, Brown, Savannah State, Florida A&M and Ave Maria.
The Hoyas return two top-10 performers from last year's tournament. Junior Cole Berman (Philadelphia, Pa./The Haverford School) finished in sixth place at 2-over par 218 and Junior Jack Musgrave (Charleston, Ind./Andrean) finished tied for seventh-place at 3-over par 219. Senior Austin Rendell (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) tied for 26th overall at 12-over par 228, and Sam Madsen (Madison, Wis./Edgewood) finished 14-over par 230 which left him tied for 30th overall last year.
Georgetown is coming off a successful weekend at the Georgetown Intercollegiate where the Hoyas finished in second place overall at 6-over par 858. Madsen led the way, finishing in second place overall at 9-under par 204 after a 5-under par 66 performance in the final round. Senior Andrew Rudy (San Diego, Calif./Torrey Pines) tied for 18th at 5-over par 218. Rendell cracked the top-10 playing as an individual finishing at 1-under par 212 which was good for 10th place overall.
