WASHINGTON - Georgetown field hockey freshman Lindsay Getz was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday for the second time this season. The team's leader in goals and points this season, she also received the honor on August 29 after making her collegiate debut.
Getz is the 10th BIG EAST weekly selection for the Hoyas in three seasons under Head Coach Shannon Soares. During that time, Georgetown has had four player of the week selections and six honor roll choices.
On August 29, Getz was honored alongside senior Aliyah Graves-Brown (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg Academy) who was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week.
Getz led the Hoyas with three goals and six points last week. She registered one goal in a near upset against No. 1 UConn on Friday before adding two goals over Towson on Sunday, including the game-winner.
With seven goals and 14 points this season, Getz is looking to become become the first freshman to lead the team in goals and points in the same season since 2002 when Jessica Quinn had 11 goals and 23 points.
Georgetown concludes its 2016 season with two road games this weekend, beginning with a BIG EAST battle at Villanova on Saturday at noon before finishing with a nonconference contest at La Salle on Sunday.
