WASHINGTON - Georgetown University sophomore women's soccer player Amanda Carolan (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) was selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.
The Hoyas improved to 9-1-1 overall with a 2-0 win over Xavier on Sunday in Kentucky. GU is 1-0-1 in BIG EAST Conference play.
Georgetown, ranked No. 6 in the country by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and No. 3 by Soccer America, is in the midst of a nine-game unbeaten streak, with wins over three teams ranked among the top-15 in the country, then-No. 12 Rutgers, then-No. 3 Virginia and then-No. 1 West Virginia.
In Sunday's win at Xavier, Carolan took a feed from junior midfielder Chloe Knott (Auckland, New Zealand/Rangitoto College) to score in the 21st minute as the Hoyas won their fifth-straight road game this season.
It was the third goal of the season for Carolan, who is fourth on the team in scoring with seven points (three goals, one assist).
Georgetown continues BIG EAST Conference play on Thursday, Oct. 6, visiting St. John's. Kickoff at Belson Stadium is slated for 7 p.m. and the game will be shown live on the BIG EAST Digital Nework.
