WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's golf team posted a 53-over par 629 over 36 holes and stands in 12th place among 12 teams at the Henssler Financial Intercollegiate, being hosted by Kennesaw State University at Pinetree Country Club in Georgia on Monday. The two-day, 54-hole tournament plays at par-72 and 6,032 yards.
The teams will finish with 18 holes on Tuesday, March 29.
Texas Tech fired a 7-over par 583 and is in first place, 19 shots ahead of Illinois and Augusta, who are tied for second at 26-over par 602. Chattanooga is fourth at 32-over par 608 and Middle Tennessee is fifth at 34-over par 610.
The Hoyas posted scores of 27-over par 315 in the first round and 26-over par 314 in the second round and stand in 12th place, five shots behind Mercer University.
Senior Mackenzie Boydston (Keller, Texas/Nolan Catholic) was Georgetown's top finisher, tying for 31st place at 11-over par 155, including a 3-over par 75 in the second round.
Freshman Christina Parsells (Bernardsville, N.J./Kent Place) is tied for 39th place, posting scores of 6-over par 78 and 7-over par 79, while classmate Alexa Popowitz (Boca Raton, Fla./St. Andrew's) is tied for 41st place at 14-over par 158, with a 6-over par 78 in the first round.
Senior Patricia Lee (Lone Tree, Colo./Highlands Ranch) is tied for 49th place at 15-over par 159, while sophomore Jacquelyn Eleey (Quincy, Mass. /The Taft School) is tied for 62nd place at 21-over par 165.
