Nick Marrocco Named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week

April 11, 2016

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University men's lacrosse sophomore goalie Nick Marrocco (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after the Hoyas' 8-5 victory over Providence College on Saturday afternoon at Cooper Field.

Marrocco tied a career-low with five goals allowed and made 14 saves to help the Blue & Gray snap a six-game losing streak. The sophomore goalie was also named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week after GU's victory over Hofstra earlier this season. It is the fourth time during his career that he has earned the weekly honor.

Junior midfielder Eduardo White (Littleton, Colo./Kent Denver) scored a career-high three goals to pace Georgetown's offense in the victory over the Friars. White came into Saturday's game with three goals on the season and doubled his scoring output in his second start of the season.

Georgetown returns to action on Saturday, April 16 when it travels to Villanova University (6-4, 0-2 BIG EAST) to take on the Wildcats in an important BIG EAST matchup. Live coverage of Saturday's game begins at 5 p.m. on the CBS Sports Network with Dave Ryan calling play-by-play and Sheehan Burch providing analysis.
