JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Georgetown University track & field team will compete in the 2016 NCAA Track & Field Championships East Preliminary, a three-day meet held at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla. The Hoyas have 18 student-athletes competing in eight different events.
The Hoyas will compete in preliminary rounds in five events starting on Thursday with the women's 1,500-meter first round set for 5:30 p.m. ET. All-American Andrea Keklak (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury/Princeton) and Kennedy Weisner (St. Marys, Pa./Elk County Catholic) competing. The trio of All-Americans Ahmed Bile (Annandale, Va./Annandale) and Cole Williams (San Francisco, Calif./Occidental College) as well as Spencer Brown (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) will toe the line in the first round of the men's 1,500-meter run immediately following at 6 p.m.
The women's 800-meter first round, set for 8:10 p.m., features four student-athletes representing the Blue & Gray, in All-Americans Emma Keenan (Gwynedd Valley, Pa./Gwynedd-Mercy Academy), Heather Martin (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) and Sabrina Southerland (New York, N.Y./Benjamin N. Cardozo) as well as freshman Sarah Schmidt (Viersen, Germany). This is the same foursome that claimed the 2016 Penn Relays 4x800-meter title in April.
All-American Joe White (Clifton, N.J./DePaul Catholic) will be among the 48 competitors in the men's 800-meter first round, slated for 8:35 p.m.
A pair of Hoyas in All-American Jonathan Green (Berlin, Mass./Saint John's High School) and Michael Crozier (Arlington, Va./Gonzaga) will compete in the men's 10,000-meter semifinals to close out action on Thursday at 9:40 p.m.
All-American Darren Fahy (Carlsbad, Calif./La Costa Canyon) and Scott Carpenter (Lenox, Mass./Lenox Memorial) will both compete in the quarterfinals of the men's steeplechase on Friday at 9:30 p.m.
Saturday will feature both the men's and women's 5,000-meter semifinals. On the women's side, All-American Katrina Coogan (Exeter, N.H./Phillips Exeter Academy) will take the track alongside teammates Audrey Belf (Birmingham, Mich./Earnest W. Seaholm) and Autumn Eastman (Hinesburg, Vt./Champlain Valley Union) at 8:05 p.m. John Murray (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) will be the lone Hoya competitor in the men's 5,000-meter semifinals.
