Fahy Competes in Steeplechase Semis at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials

WASHINGTON - Georgetown track & field All-American Darren Fahy (Carlsbad, Calif./La Costa Canyon) competed in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase semifinals on Monday, July 4 at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials. The 10-day event that ends on July 10 is being held at historic Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.

Broadcast Information
A live broadcast of the trials will be available on NBC and its family of networks in addition to their digital properties. The 10-day meet can be streamed in its entirety on the NBC Sports Live Extra app.

Fahy competed in the second of a two-heat semifinal with the top five from each heat as well as the next four fastest times advancing to the finals on time. Fahy stayed with the middle of the pack to start the race and moved up to third after 1,000 meters. As the field picked up the pace, Fahy held on. However, at the bell, the pack had one more push as Fahy slipped back to ninth in his heat, clocking 8:44.43. The time would not be enough for the All-American to advance to the finals.

Hoya Alums
A trio of Hoya alums in Emily Infeld, Rachel Schneider and Trenier (Clement) Moser are still on the docket to compete at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials. Already Rio bound, Infeld is in the 5,000-meter pool as well with the first round slated for Thursday, July 7 at 7:20 p.m. ET. Schneider and Moser are in in the 1,500-meter first round, set for Thursday, July 7 at 9:26 p.m. ET.

9:26 p.m. - Women's 1,500-Meter First Round (Schneider, Moser)
