Hoyas men's golf opens season at 14 Annual Sam Hall Intercollegiate

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's golf team opens up the 2016-17 season at the 14 Annual Sam Hall Intercollegiate on Monday, September 12. The tournament is hosted by Southern Mississippi and will take place September 12-13 at the 18-hole, par 71 Hattiesburg Country Club in Hattiesburg, Miss.

Head Coach Tommy Hunter, reigning BIG EAST Coach of the Year leads a young but proven group into the 2016-17 season. "The Southern Mississippi Tournament features a highly competitive field with plenty of top 50 teams," Hunter said. "We will need to play strong golf which is a great way to begin the season".

Coming off a successful season winning the Big East Championship and finishing 12th in the NCAA Regional in Franklin, the Hoyas return regulars to the starting lineup in juniors Sam Madsen (Madison, Wis./Edgewood {Cardinal Gibbons}), All Big East Second Team and Ping Division 1 All -Northeast Region selection Cole Berman (Philadelphia, Pa./The Haverford School) and Jack Musgrave (Chesterton, Ind./Andrean). The opening day lineup will also feature Sophomore Anthony Perrino (Concord, N.C./The Canon School) and freshman Eduardo Blochtein (Delray Beach, Fla./Spanish River Community).

Rounding out the Hoyas roster will be incoming freshman Hardin Councill (High Point, N.C./Westchester Country Day), as well as sophomore Kevin Jackson (Atlanta, Ga./The Marist School).
