WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team will have its first road game of the 2017-18 season on Thursday as the squad travels to Loyola University (Md.) for a 7 p.m. matchup with the Greyhounds at Reitz Arena. The game will be streamed live on the Patriot League Network.

Head Women's Basketball Coach James Howard notched his first-career win on the Hilltop with a 93-41 decision over the Howard University Bison (0-2) Tuesday evening at McDonough Arena. After a dominant first half, the Blue & Gray cruised to victory for the first win of the season.

Junior guard Dionna White (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill) led all scorers with 27 points and five steals, while senior forward Cynthia Petke (Yaounde, Cameroon/-/Chipola) scored 14 points and pulled in 14 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Senior center Yazmine Belk (Queens, N.Y./Nazareth Regional) chipped in nine points and 10 rebounds in the contest. Freshman Tatiana Thompson (Winter Haven, Fla./Winter Haven) made her debut with 14 points and six rebounds.

The Hoyas shot 40.8 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from beyond the arc. The squad hit 75.0 percent from the line. Georgetown outrebounded Howard, 59-43, and forced 26 turnovers with 14 steals.

Leading 55-15 at the half, the Hoyas put up impressive numbers as the team had not scored 50 points in a half since 2013. Additionally, White's 24 points in the first tied Sugar Rodgers who had 24 in a BIG EAST Tournament game in 2013.

Loyola (1-1) is in the second game of its stretch of four games in eight days and Thursday is the final game of a three-game season-opening homestand. Stephanie Karcz leads the Greyhounds with 18.5 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per outing, while Karcz and Madelene McDonald share the team lead with seven steals apiece. Izzy Therien had 18 points in her first game, marking the most points for a rookie in their debut game under head coach Joe Logan, and since at least 1990. She's second on the team with 17.0 points per game this season.

The Hoyas are 10-3 all-time against the Greyhounds and 2-0 on the road. The last meeting was a 71-44 Georgetown victory on Nov. 19, 2014 at McDonough Arena. The last game in Baltimore was a 74-57 Hoya win on Dec. 21, 2002.

The game against Loyola kicks off a five-game road trip for the Blue & Gray.
