Eleey Earns BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Week Honors

Nov. 6, 2017

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University senior women's golfer Jacquelyn Eleey (Quincy, Mass./The Taft School) has been named the BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. The honor, which covers the past two weeks of competition, recognizes Eleey's performance at the USF Intercollegiate, Oct. 30-31.

Eleey was Georgetown's top finisher as she carded a 2-over par 73 on the final 18 holes to climb 16 spots in the individual rankings and finish in a tie for sixth place at 16-over par 229. Her final round helped the Blue & Gray come from behind to win the 14-team USF Intercollegiate by six shots.

The Hoyas, who led after the first round, found themselves in third place after 36 holes, 10 strokes out of first. They fired a tournament-best 15-over par 299 in the third and final round to surpass and defeat Division II powerhouses Barry University and Lynn University by six and seven strokes, respectively. In a back-and-forth tournament, the three programs held a top-three position after each round and each held a lead during the final 18 holes.

This is Eleey's second weekly honor of the season, and the second of her career. She was named golfer of the week on Oct. 5 after winning her third career individual title at the Princeton Invitational.

Georgetown's team victory at the USF Intercollegiate was its third win in five tournaments this fall. The three titles are a program record for wins in a season.
