WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University track & field program secured 12 men and six women on the 2017 All-BIG EAST Indoor Track & Field Squad, as announced by the league office on Wednesday. The announcement comes after the Hoyas tallied a pair of event titles at the 2017 BIG EAST Indoor Track & Field Championships en route to fifth-place finishes on both the men's and women's sides.
With 12 student-athletes named All-BIG EAST, the Hoyas rank third among conference institutions with Marquette and Villanova tallying 15 and 13, respectively. Of the Blue & Gray's 12 honors, four student-athletes earned the distinction in multiple events, tying Butler for the highest ratio (3/9) of all the conference institutions.
Georgetown continues the postseason portion of the season with the ECAC / IC4A Championships, held on March 4-5, in Boston, Mass., as well as the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, held on March 10-12, in College Station, Texas. Following Wednesday's announcement, the Blue & Gray clinched five spots in the NCAA field.
