WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University baseball team will return home to Shirley Povich Field on Wednesday afternoon to host the Naval Academy at 3 p.m. Live stats and a video stream will be available at www.GUHoyas.com.
The Hoyas (14-10) are coming off of a 1-2 weekend at Brown University. After being swept in a doubleheader on Saturday, the Blue & Gray responded with a strong showing in a 3-2 victory in the series finale on Sunday. Kevin Superko (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley/Phillips Andover) went seven strong innings for his fourth-consecutive victory and Nick Morreale (Lake Elmo, Minn./St. Thomas Academy/IMG Academy) picked up his first career save while Jake Bernstein (Frederick, Md./St. John's College HS) led the GU offense with two hits and two RBI.
On Tuesday, junior outfielder Michael DeRenzi (Mendham, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for his efforts in Georgetown's four games last week. DeRenzi batted .500 (9-for-18) with a .526 on-base percentage and a .556 slugging percentage, while adding four RBI and three runs scored. He started the week with a four-hit, four-RBI effort in a 14-4 win over Coppin State in the home opener at Shirley Povich Field. In the first game of Saturday's doubleheader at Brown, DeRenzi had two hits, including a double, before reaching base four times with three hits and a walk in the nightcap. He also stole a base and scored three runs.
DeRenzi leads the Hoyas with a .413 batting average and is also tops on the team with three home runs, three triples, 28 RBI and nine stolen bases. Bernstein is batting .371, including a .455 mark in the past 10 games, while Jake Kuzbel (Ashburn, Va./Stone Ridge) and Zach Racusin (Morristown, N.J./Salisbury School/Marist) are batting .364 and .360 on the season, respectively. Kuzbel is second on the team with 24 RBI.
Navy enters Wednesday with a 15-9 overall record and has won 12 of its past 14 games. The offense is batting .306 as a team and is averaging 7.7 runs per game. The pitching staff owns a 4.17 ERA and has a 188-83 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Sammy Stevens (Birmingham, Mich./Brother Rice) is currently riding a 12-game hitting streak, batting .385 (15-for-39) with a home run, six doubles and 10 RBI in that span. Kuzbel has reached base safely in each of his past 19 games.

Georgetown currently ranks eighth in the country in sacrifice bunts (25) and 15th in sacrifice flies (15), while the Hoyas also rank 22nd in hit-by-pitches (32) and are 32nd in hits (253). Individually, Kuzbel leads the entire country with seven sacrifice flies, while DeRenzi is fourth in hits (43), 29th in RBI (28) and 30th in batting average (.413). Among the pitchers, Jimmy Swad (Washington, D.C./St. Albans) ranks 14th in the nation in saves (6) and is 31st in appearances (13).

After Wednesday's matchup against Navy, the Hoyas will play three games against George Mason this upcoming weekend. The series is scheduled to open on Friday at 3 p.m. at Shirley Povich Field.
