WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's men's rowing teams return to the water this weekend with head-to-head matchups against Holy Cross and Navy. The Hoya heavyweights travel to face the Crusaders in Princeton, N.J., on Saturday while the lightweight squad remains at home to host Navy for the Forster Cup.
Good things come for those who wait, as the Georgetown heavyweight squad had to endure an entire cancelled weekend and a postponed first day of the GW Invite before returning to the water last Saturday. Things could not have gone better for the Hoyas though, as the Blue & Gray's varsity 8+ won both its events on the day, including the boat's first victory over Navy since the 1960s.
Georgetown hits the water once again on Saturday, racing Holy Cross in Princeton, N.J., for the Healy Cup. The Healy Cup was named in honor of Father Patrick Healy, President of Georgetown from 1874-1882, who graduated from Holy Cross in 1850. The cup was donated by the Georgetown and Holy Cross classes of 2010 and is given to the winner of the varsity eight race between the two schools.
The Hoyas will race two 8+ crews and a 4+ boat in the meet.

Georgetown races against Navy in the Forster Cup on Saturday on the Potomac River. The cup is named for John J. Forster (B'70), a 1982 inductee of the Georgetown University Athletics Hall of Fame, an Olympian in the 1972 Munich Games and a Marine Corps veteran who was awarded two Purple Heart Medals in Vietnam.
