WASHINGTON - The Georgetown track & field team had a strong final day at the Virginia Challenge, hosted by the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, tallying five personal records (PRs) and seven times among the top 20.
Madeline Perez (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) dropped a huge PR as she ran 16:21.59 in the women's 5,000-meter run. It was nearly a 15-second improvement from earlier this season and just shy of a minute faster than her best time from a season ago.
The men's 1,500-meter run saw a pair of Hoyas among the top 20 in Amos Bartelsmeyer (St. Louis, Mo./Saint Louis Country Day) and Michael Clevenger (Decatur, Ill./Douglas MacArthur/Notre Dame) with Bartelsmeyer recording the only time among the top 10 of the day with a season-best 3:45.03, good enough for seventh place.
Kenneth Armstrong (San Dimas, Calif./Damien) was in tip top form as the senior had a mark of 6.85m in the men's long jump, a PR and enough for sixth place overall.
Also recording a PR on the day was Nick Sullivan (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) in the men's 200-meter dash as he ran 22.48.
The Hoyas return to competition on April 27-29 as they travel to Philadelphia, Pa., for the 2017 Penn Relays Carnival.
