WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University baseball team looks to get back to its winning ways when it travels to Villanova University this weekend for a three-game, BIG EAST series. First pitch on Friday is set for 3 p.m. while Saturday's game will begin at 2 p.m. and Sunday's finale is scheduled for 1 p.m. Live stats for all three games will be available at www.GUHoyas.com and in-game updates can be found on the team's twitter account: @GtownBaseball.
Georgetown (21-19, 0-6 BIG EAST) is coming off of a tough, 10-2 defeat against UMBC on Wednesday evening at Shirley Povich Field. Zach Racusin (Morristown, N.J./Salisbury School/Marist) led GU with three hits and was on base all four times. He also had two outfield assists, throwing out a runner at home plate and another at third base. Jake Kuzbel (Ashburn, Va./Stone Ridge) added a two-base knock and an RBI.
For the season, Michael DeRenzi (Mendham, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) leads the Hoyas with a .365 batting average and is tied with Sammy Stevens (Birmingham, Mich./Brother Rice) and Kuzbel for the team lead with four home runs. Kuzbel, who is batting .355, leads the team with 37 RBI and, while DeRenzi is right behind him with 34 and Stevens has 31.
In the BIG EAST, DeRenzi leads all players with 61 hits and 10 sacrifice bunts, while ranking fourth with 34 RBI. Kuzbel leads the league, and is tied for the national lead, with nine sacrifice flies, while ranking second in the BIG EAST with 36 RBI.
Villanova enters the weekend with a 9-23 overall record and a 2-4 mark in BIG EAST play. The Wildcats opened conference play by winning two games against Xavier before being swept by Creighton last weekend. Villanova is batting .228 as a team, while the pitching staff owns a 5.60 ERA.

Kuzbel has reached base safely in 35-consecutive games, which is the longest such streak this season for the Hoyas and is tied for the eighth-longest active streak in the country. In the 14 games since he joined the everyday lineup, Eric Garza (San Antonio, Texas/Ronald Reagan/TCU/San Jacinto) is 20-for-56 (.357) with two home runs, seven doubles, nine runs scored and 15 RBI. He has multi-hit efforts in nine of the past 12 games and has an RBI in nine of the last 11.
