WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's golf team shot a 27-over par 603 and is tied for sixth place among 11 teams after the first day of play at the East Carolina Intercollegiate, being played at the par-72, 6,708 Brook Valley Country Club in Greenville, N.C.
The 11-team field played two rounds on Monday. Georgetown posted a 14-over par 302 in the first round and a 13-over par 301 in the second round.
East Carolina and Coastal Carolina are tied for the team lead at 17-over par 593, with Maryland third at 21-over par 597, West Virginia fourth at 23-over par 599 and Old Dominion in fifth place at 26-over par 602. The Hoyas are tied for sixth with Western Kentucky.
Junior Jack Musgrave (Chesterton, Ind./Andrean) leads the Hoyas through 36 holes, standing in a tie for third place at 3-over par 147. He shot an even par 72 in the second round.
Junior Sam Madsen (Madison, Wis./Edgewood/Cardinal Gibbons [Fla.]) is tied for 19th place at 6-over par 150, including a 1-over par 73 in the opening round.
Junior Cole Berman (Philadelphia, Pa./The Haverford School) is tied for 38th place at 10-over par 154, while freshman Hardin Council (High Point, N.C./Westchester Country Day) shot an 11-over par 155 and is tied for 43rd place and classmate Eduardo Blochtein (Delray Beach, Fla./Spanish River) is tied for 49th place at 12-over par 156.
The final round will be held on Tuesday.
