WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University baseball team continues its eight-game homestand on Wednesdy when it hosts the University of Maryland Eastern Shore for a 7 p.m. matchup at Shirley Povich Field. The Hoyas (25-22) are coming off of a 1-2 weekend against then-No. 15 St. John's over the weekend. Georgetown dropped Friday's opener, 7-1, before bouncing back to take Saturday's game, 13-5. The Blue & Gray lost Sunday's finale, 9-8, in 11 innings. Jake Kuzbel (Ashburn, Va./Stone Ridge) became the 11th member of the 200-hit club on Friday. Brent Killam (Nokomis, Fla./Venice) set career highs with 3.1 innings pitched and five strikeouts out of the bullpen on Sunday.
For the season, Kuzbel leads Georgetown with a .359 batting average and has team highs with 13 doubles, five triples and 39 RBI. He is tied with Michael DeRenzi (Mendham, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) for the squad lead with 41 RBI and is tied with Sammy Stevens (Birmingham, Mich./Brother Rice) for second with four home runs. DeRenzi leads the Hoyas with 69 base hits, five home runs and 12 stolen bases.
Eastern Shore, which plays at Towson on Tuesday afternoon, is 12-36 overall and owns a 9-15 mark in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). The Hawks clinched a spot in the MEAC Tournament on Sunday with a pair of walk-off wins over Norkolk State. They are batting .247 as a team, while the pitching staff owns a 6.88 ERA.

In his past 15 games, Ryan Weisenberg (Parkland, Fla./San Ramon Valley [Calif.]) is batting .327 (17-for-52) with three home runs, two triples, a double, 11 runs scored and 15 RBI.
