WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's soccer squad will host the Cal Poly Mustangs (0-2) on Friday afternoon at Shaw Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. The Hoyas went 2-0 on the opening weekend defeating one nationally-ranked opponent.

Junior goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski (Alamo, Calif./De La Salle) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll the league office announced on Monday afternoon. As the announcement came out the Hoyas were finishing up a 3-0 victory over No. 19 Coastal Carolina for the second shutout of the season. Marcinkowski notched his first shutout of the 2017 campaign as the Hoyas downed American University, 2-0, in the season opener two days prior. Marcinkowski had three saves in the victory over AU and two in the Coastal win.

Sophomore forward Achara (Enugu, Nigeria/Berkshire School [Mass.]) is leading the way for the Blue & Gray with a pair of goals for four points on the season. He is followed by senior captain Christopher Lema (Ridgefield, N.J./Ridgefield Memorial) who has a goal and an assist to his credit for three points. Also notching goals are juniors Ethan Lochner (New York, N.Y./Stuyvesant) and Peter Schropp (Omaha, Neb./Creighton Prep).

GU was picked fifth in the BIG EAST Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. Additionally, Marcinkowski was named the BIG EAST Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year and both he and Lema earned a spot on the Preseason All-BIG EAST squad.

Cal Poly dropped a 2-0 season-opening decision to No. 7 Indiana last Friday and a 2-1 double-overtime result against No. 10 Notre Dame on Sunday. Both matches were part of the Mike Berticelli Memorial Tournament inside Alumni Stadium. Junior midfielder Jose Rivera tallied the lone Mustang goal of the weekend.

Goalkeeper Simon Boehme earned three saves against Indiana and a dozen more versus Notre Dame en route to most valuable goalkeeper honors in the four-team tournament. Sophomore midfielder Christian Enriquez was named to the all-tournament team.

This will be the first meeting between the squads.
