Georgetown Travels to UMass-Lowell and Holy Cross This Weekend

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University field hockey squad (3-1) will travel to Massachusetts this weekend for a pair of away games. The Hoyas will play at the University of Massachusetts Lowell (3-1) on Friday at 7 p.m., and then at the College of the Holy Cross (1-2) at noon on Sunday. Both games will be available to watch via livestream and with live stats at www.GUHoyas.com.

On Monday, freshman midfielder Cami Osborne (Newtown Square, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame de Namur) and junior goalkeeper Chloe Verwiel (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) were named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. The Hoyas went 1-1 last weekend, defeating by Rider University and a win against Lock Haven University.

Currently leading all Hoyas with four goals and eight points, Osborne had one of the two goals in Georgetown's most recent game against Lock Haven last weekend. Verwiel currently has 20 saves, including one shutout this past weekend against Lock Haven.

UMass-Lowell (3-1) is coming into the week with wins against Colgate University, Miami University (Ohio) and Ball State University and a defeat from Hofstra University. Last Tuesday, sophomore Anouk Lalande was named America East Offensive Player of the Week. Lalande has started off her sophomore campaign with four goals and nine points, scoring a goal last week against Miami (Ohio) to win the game for the River Hawks, 2-1.

Friday's game will played for the first time ever between the Hoyas and the River Hawks.

Holy Cross (1-2) started the season losing its first two games against University of Massachusetts and University at Albany but bounced back, shutting down Quinnipiac, 2-0, on Sunday. Senior Maureen Connolly was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and currently leads the team this season with four goals and 10 points.

The Blue & Gray is 4-3 all-time against the Crusaders. The last meeting was during the 2014 campaign, when the Hoyas won 2-1 in overtime.

The Hoyas will return home next Friday, September 15 at 2 p.m., when they face off against Quinnipiac University.
