Georgetown’s Jessie Govan Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University senior center Jessie Govan (Queens Village, N.Y. / Wings Academy) was selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the second-consecutive week as announced by the league on Monday. It is the fourth time this season and the 10th time in his career that he has earned the accolade.

In a 1-1 week, Govan averaged a double-double with 25.5 ppg and 10.5 rpg. He tallied 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in a one-point loss to Syracuse at the Carrier Dome on Saturday. It was his third double-double of the season. The Syracuse game also marked the 18th-straight contest where Govan tallied double figures dating back to the 2017-18 season.

The senior is currently averaging 19.8 ppg and 8.1 rpg to lead the team in both categories. His 11 blocks are a squad best and the Hoyas lead the BIG EAST Conference in blocks per game with 4.3.

Georgetown is back in action on Saturday, as the Hoyas close out the nonconference schedule with a four-game homestand, starting with the SMU Mustangs. Tipoff at Capital One Arena is scheduled for noon and a link to live stats is available at GUHoyas.com.

The game will be shown live on FS1 with Justin Kutcher handling the play-by-play and Doug Gottlieb providing analysis. The game can be heard locally on The Team 980 with Rich Chvotkin in his 45th season calling the game.
